On behalf of the Vicksburg Main Street Board of Directors and the City of Vicksburg, the 2018 Downtown Vicksburg Mardi Gras Parade has been rescheduled for Monday, February 12, at 5:30 p.m. It has been rescheduled due to the probability of heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the weekend.
This weather assessment has been confirmed by John Elfer, the director of the Emergency Management Agency for Warren County. “ The krewes have worked hard on these floats, and they’ve put a lot of time and money into the floats,” Kim Hopkins, Main Street Executive Director, said. “But we are also considering the safety of the participants and the krewes and the people coming down to watch the parade.” The safety of krewes participating and the safety of people on the parade route watching the floats are being considered in this decision to reschedule the parade to February 12th.
For all participants of the parade, line up will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Belmont Street. All line up information given to participants prior to rescheduling will be applicable; the only changes to the parade will be the date and time change. All line up areas assigned and location of line-up will be the same.
The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. at Washington and Belmont streets and will travel North on Washington Street to Jackson Street.
